“QUATRE” / Elene Shatberashvili
For her fourth exhibition, Georgian artist Elene Shatberashvili takes over La Verrière, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès’ exhibition space in Brussels. Conceived with curator Joel Riff (artistic director of La Verrière), this “expanded solo exhibition” brings together other artists, selected by the artist-curator duo, to enter into dialogue with Elene Shatberashvili’s paintings.
Alongside her are three artists, former students like herself at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, whom she met in Tim Eitel’s studio: Nathanaëlle Herbelin, Miranda Webster and Jean Claracq; Mathilda Marque Bouaret, a young contemporary artist; Vera Pagava, a guiding figure and reference point for the exhibition; as well as two design studios, Rooms Studio and Johan Viladrich.
Finally, pastor and thinker Philippe François contributes a reflective text on the number “four” for the exhibition catalogue.
